So the line you use to answer the question is y = 0.draw that line onto the same graph.......
the first question is:
Draw a graph of y=x^2+x-1 -4<=x<=3
Use this graph to solve the equation x^2+x-1=0
Give the equation of the line you use to do this

the second question is:
Draw a graph of y=x^3 for -2<=x<=2
use this graph x^3+x-4=0 to solve the equation
Give the equation of the line you use to do this.

Thank you!!

First question
you want to know at which values of x is
x^2 + x - 1 = 0
if you have drawn a graph of y = x^2 + x - 1, then
the points at which the graph crosses the x-axis are the
points at which the function is zero.
So the line you use to answer the question is y = 0.

Second question
draw graph of y = x^3 for -4 <= x <= 3
then use this graph to solve
x^3 + x - 4 = 0

You'd use the line y = 4 - x
draw that line onto the same graph.
The points at which y = 4 - x and y = x^3 are the points
at which
x^3 - (4 - x) = 0
or
x^3 + x - 4 = 0

-
put in the x values and get y and plot the graph
