Let x = side on base of 5 cm
Let 12-y = side on height of 12 cm
By similar triangle 12/5 = y/x
x = 5y/12
A = 5y/12*(12-y) = 5y-5y^2/12
dA/dy = 5 - 10y/12 = 0 for maximum
60 = 10y
y = 6 cm
Area = 30 - 5*36/12 = 15 cm^2
