Degree of 1: We have a linear function of the variety y = ax + b

Leading coefficient of 2: There will be a 2 in front of the term with the highest degree (the x)

So far we have

y = 2x + b

Now we will use the P(1) = 3. That means when x = 1, y = 3

3 = 2(1) + b

3 = 2 + b

1 = b

Your function is y = 2x + 1

P(x) = 2x+1
