I can't solve this simple inequation

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-11-19] [Hit: ]
5, but I keep getting 23.5.Please show me how to solve it.-http://www.flickr.......
I've been working on it for an hour but I keep getting the wrong answer.
Here's the equation: x + 4 divided by 3, minus x -1 divided by 5 is less than or equal to 2.
The answer is 3.5, but I keep getting 23.5.
Please show me how to solve it.

I feel for you. Nothing more frustrating than going round in circles with a maths problem.

( (x+4)/3 ) - ( (x-1)/5 ) ≤ 2

Multiply both sides by 3 then 5:

5(x+4) - 3(x-1) ≤ 2(3)(5)

=> 5x - 3x + 20 -(-3) ≤ 30

=> 2x + 23 ≤ 30

subtract 23 from both sides:

=> 2x ≤ 7

divide both sides by 2:

=> x ≤ 3.5

(x+4)/3 - (x-1)/5 <=2
5x+20-3x+3 <= 30
2x <= 7
x <= 3.5
