I need help with this problem i cannot get past.
Determine the solution to the system of equations: 2x - 3y =18, x + 2y = -5. I am guessing i have to solve this via addition or substitution method. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I'm just going to use substitution
x+2y=-5
x=-2y-5
2(-2y-5)-3y=18
-4y-10-3y=18
-7y-10=18
-7y=28
y=-28/7
y=-4
x+2(-4)=-5
x-8=-5
x=3
Answer
(3, -4)
for addition method
-2(x+2y=-5)
-2x-4y=10
(2x-3y=18)+(-2x-4y=10)=-7y=28
y=-28/7
y=-4
x+2(-4)=-5
x-8=-5
x=3

2x - 3y = 18
x + 2y = - 5
solve the second equation for x, then substitute in the first equation:
x = - 2y - 5
2(- 2y - 5) - 3y = 18
- 4y - 10 - 3y = 18
- 7y = 28
y = - 4
can you find x ? get involved. check your answer.

Get x alone in the second equation then plug it into the first equation.
