Ok so a module I'm taking at univeristy needs 40% overall to pass it.
It is examined by 2 tests of 20% each then the final exam which is worth 60%.
The 2 tests (worth 20% each) have already been taken and I got 47% and 40% (out of 100%).
So what is my overall % I have recieved in this module and how much do I need to get in the 60% to reach the 40% pass mark for the overall module?

The tests are worth 20% each and combining the percentages you got you have 43.5% However, as these are only worth 40% overall you have achieved 17.4% from the tests. (43.5 * (2/5))
You now need to find 22.6% in order to pass. (40-17.4)
A mark of 38% in the exam would be worth 22.8% overall (As 38% carries 3/5 worth of the overall weighting: 38*(3/5) )
So if you get 40% in your exam (which may be a requirement to pass the module) you will pass with an overall mark of 41.4%
Hope this helps!

Each percent you get on the 20% tests are worth 1/5th of a % overall. So that means you got 9.4% and 8%, or 17.4% out of 40%. Overall, that's 43.5%. Cutting it close there.
Eeach percent on the big exam is worth 1.67% overall, so you need to get at least ~98% to keep it above 40%...
Good luck!
