$6.$4.00/truck for loader assisted unloading.Looks obvious which is the more cost effective.......
Goods are delivered by trucks. Each hour arrives 8 trucks with goods. The average unloading time is 15 minutes. Each truck cost $24 per hour (I guess it is a waiting time). Also there are option to use an loader (machine). Loader's productivity is 12 trucks per hour and additional cost $2 per truckload.
Which method would be more effective and cheaper?

hope you understand my english.
Thank you.

I'm assuming that no truck has to wait for any other truck to be unloaded before beginning to unload. With that assumption, and the fact that it takes 1/4 hour to unload, the cost of manual unloading is 24/4 = $6.00 per truck. Using the loader, a truck can be unloaded in 1/12 hour with a lost time cost of 24/12 = $2.00 per truck plus a loader cost of $2.00 per truck for a total of $4.00 per truck for loader assisted unloading.

$6.00/truck for manual unloading
$4.00/truck for loader assisted unloading.

Looks obvious which is the more cost effective.
