im not sure whether to distribute or do it some way else?A.B.C.Can someone explain to me how to do this........
ineed help on this.. im not sure whether to distribute or do it some way else?:s

Solve the equation 7 = 2 + 5(z - 2)
A. 3
B. 5
C. -3

Can someone explain to me how to do this... like the steps and whatnot...

Thanx!!<3

-
First multiply the 5 times the (z - 2) term to get:

7 = 2 + 5z - 10

Combine like terms (add the 2 and -10)

7 = -8 + 5z

Add 8 to both sides:

15 = 5z

Divide both sides by 5:

z = 3

-
You need to multiply out everything within the brackets first.

7 = 2 + 5z - 10

Now you need to get all the zs on the left, and everything else on the right.

7 - 5z = 2 - 10 (subtract 5 z from both sides)
-5z = 2 - 10 - 7 (subtract 7 from each side)
-5z = -15 (2 - 10 - 7= -15)
z = -15/-5 (divide both sides by -5)
z = 3 (-15/-5 = 3)

-
7 = 2 + 5(z - 2)
distribute 5(z - 2)
7 = 2 + 5z - 10
isolate the z to one side.
5z = 7 - 2 + 10.
5z = 15
z = 3.

A

-
7=2+5z-10....add 8 to b
oth sides

7+8=5z
15=5z div by 5
z=3 ans is 3 ck 7= 2+5(3-2) 7=7 answer ck so answer ck ou.

a.3

-
7=2+5(z-2) implies 7-2=5(z-2) so 5=5(z-2) so 1=z-2 so z=1+2=3.

-
I wish I could help but im not quite sure. :(
