So of the 15 bottles,4(6) - 2(9) = 6??24 - 18 = 6??Hope that helps.......
In math i have this problem in algebra. It says erica works at a soda bottlin factory. She gets 4 cents for each one she bottles and deduct 2 cents for each bottle she breaks. One day she has a bad day and she does 15 bottles. And she made 6 cents. How many broke and how many did she have not broken. I know i could just make a table. But i have to eliminate and substitute. how do i do it?

OK

4x - 2y = 6
x+y = 15 ; here is where you can substitute (y = 15-x)

4x - 2(15-x) = 6
4x - 30 +2x = 6
6x = 36
x = 6

So of the 15 bottles, 6 were NOT broken and 9 were broken

Prove it:
4(6) - 2(9) = 6??
24 - 18 = 6??
6 =6 YES

Hope that helps.
