7/2x - 1= 2x+5
How do i get rid of the fraction??

-
7/2x-1=2x+5

add 1 to both sides.

7/2x=2x+6

multiply each side by 2

7x=4x+12
3x=12

x=4.

to get rid of any fraction multiply that fraction by whatever is in the denominator and do the same to both sides.

-
Multipy everything by two 2(7/2) - 2(1) = 2(2X) + 2(5) that equals 7 - 2 = 4X + 10

-
(7/2)x - 1 = 2x + 5 multiply by 2
7x - 2 = 4x + 10
3x = 12
x = 4
