triangle that has 7.5 as opposite, the angle is 32 degrees and 14' <-----wat the hell is 14' and how do i enter it into my calculator, and the question is
find x (in this case x is the adjacent side)
how do i find x with only opposite and angle given my text book is hard to understand

degrees are broken up into smaller parts called minutes(ie: fractions of a degree)
60 minutes = 1 degree
the symbol used for minutes is ' So 14' = 14 minutes
(likewise, minutes are made up of seconds; 60 seconds = 1 minute and symbol for seconds is " )
There should be a button on your calculator which has DEG on it.
to enter 32° 14', press 32.14 then press DEG and the calculator should convert it to a decimal degree of 32.233333333 °
To go back to degrees and mins press button ° ' " or (D.MS D)
TO FIND x :
I am assuming the triangle is right angled.
you have the angle, the opposite side and want 'x' = adjacent side so use (tan)
tan(angle) = opp / adj
tan(32°14') = 7.5/x
=> x = 7.5/(tan(32°14')
=> x = 11.89

14' is read "14 minutes" and it means 14/60 of a degree.
A related concept is seconds, 12'' is read "12 seconds" and it means 12/3600 (3600=60^2)
The easiest way to do this is from the definition of tangent.
TAN(angle) = opposite / adjacent
so we have TAN(32 + 14/60) = 7.5 / adjacent
adjacent = 7.5 / TAN(32 + 14/60)
= 7.0346
