How do you find the molecular formula after you find the empirical formula in chemistry

??????......
A compound is found to contain 46.68 % nitrogen and 53.32 % oxygen by weight.

The empirical formula for this compound is? NO

The molecular weight for this compound is 30.01 g/mol. The molecular formula for this compound is???????????? HOW DO I DO THAT???????

-
The empirical formula just gives the ratio between the atoms in a molecule. The molecular forumula is also NO.

If u had a compoundwith molecular formule H2O2, the emperical formula would be HO.
But in this case its just simply NO.

Let us pretend that you were given the molecular weight of 60. How do we find the molecular formula?

Take NO and find its weight, which is 14+16 = 30

Divide 60 by 30 to get two.

That answer of 2 means we take the empirical formula and double it to get the molecular formula. In this pretend example, the molecular formula would be N2O2

Suppose the molecular weight = 90. Then, 90/30 = 3 and we get N3O3.

By the way, N2O2 actually does exist but I don't think N3O3 does.

Amazing! Is that what you are looking for?
