Math Help? (probability)

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-27] [Hit: ]
5. when you toss the second time the probability is 0.5 again, so probability of getting tail 2 times in a row is 0.5*0.5=0.......
a coin is tossed 4 times what is the probability of getting tails four times in a row? I dont understand how to get the answer.

-
The probability each time of getting tails ONCE is 1/2. Everytime we want to get it once more in a row, we multiply by 1/2.

So, we have:
1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2

1/16

You have a 50% chance of getting tails the frist time, then 50% the next time but its the 2nd in a row so you have to multiply it by the first probability to get the chance of it being tails 2 times in a row. So, for 4 times in a row it owuld be:
(1/2)x(1/2)x(1/2)x(1/2)=(1/16)

-
the probability of getting tail the first time is 0.5. when you toss the second time the probability is 0.5 again, so probability of getting tail 2 times in a row is 0.5*0.5=0.25,
if you continue in the same manner you will get the answer, which is 0.5*0.5*0.5*0.5=0.0625

The probability of a coin landing on tails is 1/2.

So..
_1__ x _1_ x _1_ x _1_ = _1_
..2........2.......2.......2.......16

Probability of it landing four times in a row should be 1/16

First answer, WRONG. Independent probability. P(A) x P(A) x P(A) x P(A)
.5 x .5. x .5 x .5 = 0.0625

-
1/4 bcuz there are two sides, heads and tails, and it is tossed four times
