1. Write down a percentage that is bigger than a half and less than three-quarters.
2.VAT is 17 1/2% or, 17.50 work out these:
a)£100 b)£35 c)£20 d)£120 e)£756 f)£500
3.12 1/2% of a population of 200.000
4.40% of £34
5.85% of 80 guests
Many thanks in advance.

1) Half is 50% and three quarters is 75%. So any three numbers between these two numbers.
2) You need to understand how to work out %s for the rest.
E.g. 100/100= 1 Then
1 * 17.5. = 17.50 That's the answer
Then follow same again
35 / 100 = 0.35 The
0.35 * 17.5 = 6.125 Is the answer.
So for rest of questions do the same take your original number then divide by 100 THEN times by the % required.

These should be easy if you have a calculator and remember that "of" usually means multiply.
1. one-half is 50% and three-quarters is 75% so anything in between will do.
2. a) £17.50 b) £6.125 etc. (just multiply everything by 0.175)
3. 0.125 * 200,000 = 25,000.
4. 0.40 * £34 = ?
5. 0.85 * 80 = ?
