How to Find the indefinite integral of (1/4+x^2)?

-
Note : ∫ [ 1 / ( a² + x² ) ] dx = ( 1/a )· tanֿ¹ ( x/a ) ... (1)
______________________________

... ∫ [ 1 / ( 4 + x² ) ] dx

= ∫ [ 1 / ( 2² + x² ) ] dx ...... Now Use (1)

= ( 1/2 )· tanֿ¹ ( x/2 ) + C ................................... Ans.

I would assume that you know how to find the derivative of a function. So integeration is the opposite. First split the 1/4 and x squared seperately and integrate each part. 1/4 would change to 1/4x and x^2 would change to x^3/3. Put them together and u have 1/4x+x^3/3+c(constant), find the derivative and you will get 1/4+x^2
