He worked 40 hours last week plus n overtime hours and made $339.38. How many overtime hours did he work?3. A farmer is building a square pen 21 feet on each side. He puts one post at each corner and one post every 3 feet in between.......
Can you show me how to write equations and solve these problems? I'm so sorry I really don't get it...

1. Wendy bought a drill at a 10% off sale. the sale price was $75.60. Find the original price of p.

2.Lamar's summer job is mowing lawns for a landscaper. His pay is $7.50/h. Lamar also makes $11.25/h for any time over 40/h that he works in one week. He worked 40 hours last week plus n overtime hours and made $339.38. How many overtime hours did he work?

3. A farmer is building a square pen 21 feet on each side. He puts one post at each corner and one post every 3 feet in between. How many posts will he use?

4. It takes 8 painters 6 hours to paint the walls of the gymnasium.
a. how many person-hours does this job require?
b. How many hours will 12 painters take to paint the gym?

5. Cathy has a collection of dimes and quarters. The number of dimes equals the number of quarters. she has a total of $2.80. How many of each coin does Cathy have?(hint: Let n= the number of dimes.. Since each dime has a value of 10 cents, the value of n dimes is10n. Since the number of quarters is also n, the value of n quarters is 25n. Also change the value of $2.80 to cents)

6. The weight of an object on Venus is about 9/10 of it's weight on Earth. The weight of an object on Jupiter is about 13/5 times its weight on Earth.
a.If a rock weighs 23lbs on Venus, how much would it weigh on Earth?
b. If the same rock were on Jupiter, how much would it weigh?

7. Jackson, Petra, and Tyrone went to the beach and collected seashells over the weekend.Jackson collected s seashells. Petra and Tyrone each collected 13 fewer than twice the number of seashells Jackson collected. At the end of the weekend, they had 94 shells. How many seashells did each person collect?

Thanks for reading this....algebra confuses me...

1.) Well let's see: The sale price is $75.60. If we let the original price be represented by p, think of how we do sales. we take the original price(p), multiply it by the sale rate(10% or .1) and subtract that amount from the original price. So this would be represented by: p - (.10)(p) = 75.60

The easiest way to solve this is like so:
p - .1p = 75.60 Multiply both sides be 100
100p - 10p = 7560 Simplify the left side.
90p = 7560 Divide 90 from both sides.
p = $84 Your done! The original price was $84.

To check: 84(.10) = $8.40
$84.00 - $8.40 = $75.60 <---- the sale price
