I think it was heat exhaustion, but she passed out in a field. We found her face down passed out. She couldn't really walk. So we carried her back. Why couldn't she get up and why was she passed out for so long. Can you get back up after passing out or do you stay that way?

Was it a very hot day and was she exposed to the direct rays from the sun - and for any length of time? If so, sounds very much like heat-stroke to me. I've been with someone who went exactly the way as you described what happened to your friend. Take her out of the direct sun and put her in somewhere shaded and sit with her till she comes round. When she does, she'll be saying that she feels awful - and probably with a really bad headache. Make sure she has water to drink - but not ice-cold water! That'll aggravate her condition! Make sure she only drinks the water in small sips and does not gulp it down. When she feels able to move, take her home, send her to bed with a couple of headache pills. Make sure the bedroom curtains are drawn and stay in the house for several hours until she feels ready to get up. Then ask her how she feels. If she doesn't feel better - take her to the hospital.
That advice is based on my experience of dealing with someone who had had heat-stroke.

well you don't know for sure if it was heat related or it could be something major. If blacking out for any reason it can take a while to get back on your feet. IF it was my friend I would be taking friend to the hospital to make sure.

Is she at a hospital? It could be anything really. A stroke, a tumor, heat or something else
