What I mean is if your computer was powerful and it took up a lot of memory all that data could weigh too much and your needing extra fuel to reach your escape velocity, so maybe it would be a good idea to bring a computer that doesn't have a lot of power in it, and just relay all your information to and fro the earth base where the computers could be larger and store more data.
But then what if it's not enough and your out just so far and you need extra data then what? Maybe there's an in between where you could bring enough data, but not so much that it weighs you down.
I think they should have satellites that have this like street lights to our distant planets and we could just relay information to whomever is needing it at the time.

Your first paragraph pretty much describes how the Apollo spacecraft operated. At the time, computers obviously took up more space than they do now. The capsules had a guidance computer, and most of what they needed was radioed to them from the ground.
Very little computer guidance is required for space travel. Once your craft is moving, gravity takes care of the rest. Minor nudges may be required to correct your course.
If you're so far out that you can't have a reliable almost-real-time connection with Earth, your spacecraft will probably be sufficiently large to have a decent computer, especially given the size difference between then and now.
