Geology is the study of the earth and how it evolves. A geologist would study this. You'd also study things like evolution, the carbon cycle, climate change etc.
A geographer has a much wider spectrum, you can work with human geography (the study of people, populations, communities, cultures etc.) or with physical geography (very similar to geology) - generally the natural environment.
I would predict that a geologist would earn more money because it's quite a bit more specified, and how interesting it is would depend on which field you would plan to work in. I think seismology would be very exciting because you'd get to travel all over the world studying seismic activity - to places like California, Iceland, Japan and New Zealand. I also think the study of the earth's core would be fascinating - it's a lot to do with Chemistry down there too.
