I am from NC and never in my life felt any earth quakes and then about seven years ago I moved to Memphis, TN and then to Peru South America. I felt an earthquake for the first time in my life when I was there, then in December of 2010 I came back to the states to NC.
I was sitting in the living room and the house shook as if it was a small quake but I said to myself that it's just the wind for it was blowing pretty hard that day. Then in august I knew I felt one for the house no only shook but everything almost fell off the wall. I then asked around and I was told that we've always had them. Is that true? I don't recall any while I was here before and in Peru I told everybody I knew that we don't have them here. Please shine some light on this area. thanks.

Since the formation of the Appalachian mountains during the Middle Ordovician period approximately 496-440 million years ago... conservative estimate.
