"happening around the same time" - that's an assumption. The different accounts are from cultures that don't use the same calendars or ways to track time, there is no objective data to support a global flood.
There certainly were some significant floods in many different parts of the world (just as there are today). But a single global flood has no scientific support.
There isn't enough water on Earth to flood all the land, unless the Antarctic, Greenland, and Artic ice sheets were to melt. And that would take time and global warming - no record of that in any of the accounts.
So the only evidence to support a global flood is currently questionable.

No, a flood according to the proportions to the bible is false cause it would kill the people and possibly animals on board the ark... But their has been a global flood in actually about a billion years ago when the Earth was forming. It rained and rained on and off for years and years that is how we got all of our water and why Early Earth was called a "Water World" cause it was all Water with a few mountains big enough to go through the surface :D

Melting all of the polar ice means that nearly 100% of the planet's water would exist as a liquid. Some small portion of the total would remain in the atmosphere. If all of the world's ice melted, it would not produce a global flood.
@Brian torrential rains depend on atmospheric differences, cold and hot, clear and stormy. wet and dry Torrential rains can't happen across the entire planet. Funny how some people think that these rains happened several thousand years ago and then never again. Even when a hurricane blasts the coast, continental interiors can be as dry as ever.

No, no one is silly enough to believe that. Everyone knows that early civilizations all... that is ALL began near water. Floods and water? Where is the tradition in Nepal of a flood? Or in Machu Picchu? No water, no flood.
