10 years ago I joined the military and shot a bunch of people in iraq. Now I have PTSD. Do you feel bad for me?
I particularly remember a moment in 2003 when I shot an Iraqi Insurgent, and his brains splattered all over the concrete.
Should I be praised and given special treatment for being a veteran? Am I a hero?

But since the damage is already done, how much I sympathize with you (which is another way of asking how much of the responsibility is yours) depends on several things:
1. What was your motive for joining?
2. What did you know about PTSD before you joined? (Did you suppose you were going to have a desk job in the military?)
3. What did you know about the motives of the U.S. for being in Iraq at that time?
