because ion size increases down a column, so Ba is the biggest/ Right?http://www.wolframalpha.Which doesnt make it close to any of those ions.The C-O bond distance is 130pm,......
Hey guys just making sure my reasoning is correct:

1) Which of the following is CO3- - approximately equal in size to?
a) Mg ++
b) Ca ++
c) Sr ++
d) Ba++

I think it's D. CO3- - is an anion with a -2 charge. Anions are larger than a neutral element/compound. Although the answer choices are cations (and thus shorter than their neutral part), Ba++ is the best answer, because ion size increases down a column, so Ba is the biggest/ Right?

The carbonate ion radius is 178pm

Which doesn't make it close to any of those ions.

The C-O bond distance is 130pm, Ba2+ is 132pm.
