However, "I subscript 2 (liquid)" might also be a homogeneous mixture, depending on how the I2 got to be a liquid. Under ordinary conditions I2 doesn't liquify, implying that it has been dissolved in something (alcohol for example) in order to obtain a liquid, in which case it also is a homogeneous mixture.
