If I am given sucrose and fructose in an unknown solid lab, how can I tell them apart? Will a Benedict test work in this case?
For my lab, there will be 12 unknown solid but we will be randomly given 5 to test. Both fructose and sucrose are possible solids and I don't know how to tell them apart.

A Benedict test will work. Fructose will react with the reagent whereas sucrose will not.
