Formula for iron + chloride

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-02-27] [Hit: ]
2Fe + 3Cl2 --> 2FeCl3-3 Cl2 since chlorine is diatomoc and every time you add a molecule of chlorine, you add two atoms.2 Fe +3 Cl2 --> 2 FeCl3-Cl2 = chlorine,Fe + Cl2 --> FeCl2 or FeCl3,......
I just can't seem to get this right. What would be the formula for
iron (s) + chlorine (g) iron(III) chloride (s) ?
I keep writing 2Fe + 2Cl3 --> 2FeCl3.

is it 3Cl2? or am I right with 2Cl3

-
it looks like Fe has a charge of 3 on it right? so..

2Fe + 3Cl2 --> 2FeCl3

-
3 Cl2 since chlorine is diatomoc and every time you add a molecule of chlorine, you add two atoms.
2 Fe +3 Cl2 --> 2 FeCl3

-
Cl2 = chlorine, never found as Cl3 for elemental chlorine
Fe + Cl2 --> FeCl2 or FeCl3, depending upon the strenth of the oxidation

Fe + Cl2 --> FeCl2
2Fe + 3Cl2 --> 2FeCl3
