8(2+0.=14.multiply this with 2 to get the total area to be cover by paint 28.so28.14litres of paint needed for painting the tank-1.2.......
A metal oil tank is cylindrical in shape. It has a diameter of 1.6 m and is 2m long. calculate the volume of oil this tank can hold. if a litre of paint covers 1m squared, how many litres will it take to paint the tank?

-
V=pi*r^2
V=pi*(1.6/2)^2=2.01m^3

suppose you paint the tank inside and outside as well and the thickness of the tank is

Total area = 2*(pi*r^2) + 2pi*r*h=2pi*r(r+h)=2pi*0.8(2+0.8)=
=14.07m^2
multiply this with 2 to get the total area to be cover by paint 28.14m^2
so28.14litres of paint needed for painting the tank

1. the formula for volume of a cylinder is radius squared times pi times height

2. the radius is half the diameter so first we do 0.8 * 0.8 which equals 0.64

3. 0.64 * pi= 2.0096

4. 2.0096 times 2 (the height) = 4.0192 litres cubed that it can hold

5. the formula for surface area is diameter times pi times height

6. diameter (1.6) times pi = 5.024

7. 5.024 times 2 (height) = 10.048 litres of paint

-
V = Ao x h = [(pi x d^2)/4] x h = 4.02 m^3

SA = 2 x Ao + Arec = 2 x [(pi x d^2)/4] + Circumference x h = 2 x [(pi x 1.6^2)/4] + pi(1.6) x 2

SA (surface area) = 14. 0743 m^2

therefore, 14.0743 Li of paint will be consumed...

-
V = pi*r^2 *h = pi*.8^2 * 2 = ? m^3

Curved surface area = 2*pi*r *h = 2*pi*.8 * 2 m^2

Paint required to paint this area = 2*pi*.8 * 2 / 1 = 3.2 pi litres
