I have quite a few questions about thermite. When the aluminum and iron oxide are mixed, are they turned into a powder (or turned into small flakes) and thrown together, or are they supposed to be mixed together in a way such as melting? Is thermite an explosive like gunpowder or something that burns for a long time? How hot does it burn? How hot does it have to be to go off? What is it used for? What has it been used for? I saw this on Myth Busters once and now I'm very interested in it. I think they said it was used in the paint on the Hindenburg or something and then I saw sparks flying off of something they burned.

under the 2007 homegrown radicalization and terrorist act , by asking about explosives on YA , you now qualify for " special " monitoring .
