okay easy way to do this first find out how much he would make at 35 hours (35x16=560) then find what time and a half is ((16/2)+16=24) so
a) 560+24=584 he only went 1 hour over only add 24 once
b) 560+(24x4)=656 since he went over by 4 hours times 24 by 4 and add 560
hope this helps

Well first of all he worked at least 35h at 16$/h.
So he earned 35h*16$/h + (overtime pay)
A) In this case he worked 1 hour of overtime. Since he gets paid 1 1/2 we multiply 16$/h * 1.5 = 24$/h.
So for each hour he works over he gets an additional 24$.
35h * 16$/h + 1h * 24$/h = 584$
B) Now he worked 4 extra hours:
35h * 16$/h + 4h * 24$/h = 656$
Hope this helped!

36 hrs = 35 hr + 1
so he earns 16 x 35 + 1(16 + 8) = 560 + 24 = $584
39 hrs = 35 +4
so he earns 35x16 + 4(16+ 8) = 560 + 96 = 656
so he earns 16 x 35 + 1(16 + 8) = 560 + 24 = $584
39 hrs = 35 +4
so he earns 35x16 + 4(16+ 8) = 560 + 96 = 656
