What is the chemical formula for sulphuric acid ?
-
Sulphuric acid is H2SO4, it can be called as Hydrogen sulphate, though the term is generally not used.Sulphur dioxide gas is got by burning sulphur,as Sulphur can burn as such. Sulphur dioxide gas is made to be dissolved in pure water to get Sulphurus Acid,
i.e. SO2 + H2O = H2SO3. Sulphurus Acid being a reducing agent,it combines with an atom of Oxygen to give Sulphuric Acid. H2SO3 + [ O ] = H2SO4. Sulphuric Acid is one of the heavy acids & is a corrosive transparent liquid. It needs to be handled very carefully.
