This photo shows a floral motif on a wooden door panel in a masonic lodge. Can someone tell me what kind of flower is depicted?

Tom S say: It is a fairly generic carved wood "rosette", I don't think it is intended to depict any specific flower.

Robert say: NO it not a rose it's dazzie

Dubbs say: I'd like to say it's a Forget-Me-Not, as asides from this particular flower not many have a special significance in Freemasonry. But a Forgot-Me-Not became a symbol primarily in Central European lodged just before World War II when they were forced underground.
I cannot say for certain that this is a Forget-Me-Not as they usually only have 5 petals, But the petals do mach the standard shape along with the center pistil, which is usually unnoticeable on a Rose.
Despite the mismatched # of petals, 8 is the next number up from 5 in the Fibonacci sequence, which may or may not mean something to secret societies.

marys.momma say: It's only a "stylized" rose. Roses accurately depicted have petals grouped in fives.
