My grandparents have blue eyes but my father has brown eyes

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-12-24] [Hit: ]
Example a man whose mom has blue eyes and whos father has brown eyes but with a recessive blue eyed allele as well only has a small chance of having a child with blue eyes because the dark eye color is more dominant and will show up with only one allele instead of the two required for blue. Does that make sense?-Multiple genes/alleles-Two recessives (blue) can adopt a dominant (brown) color eyed person.Too late to locate the milkman.......
both of my paternal grandparents have blue eyes, but both of their sons have brown eyes. how did that happen? my maternal grandmother has blue-green eyes and grandfather has brown eyes, and only one out of four of their children got blue eyes. so my father and mother both have brown eyes, and so do i. i know blue eyes are more uncommon, but i thought the chances would have been much higher.

Um, no. Blue eyes being a recessive trait, will only show up if both traits are present. Example a man whose mom has blue eyes and who's father has brown eyes but with a recessive blue eyed allele as well only has a small chance of having a child with blue eyes because the dark eye color is more dominant and will show up with only one allele instead of the two required for blue. Does that make sense?
