well it has happened.. many times, a lot of research was conducted by nazis who didn't care much about the well being of their patients. Not to mention it's kinda unethical to try such "radical" things with humans but i'm sure every major government in the world is playing with altering DNA in humans and are using human subjects. you just won't ever hear about it. look into nazi research during WW2 for some interesting as well as grotesque experiments

No, there is still a debate going on to see whether trying to alter DNA on humans would be civilized or not. What you have stated above is an example of humans adapting to their surroundings. (environment)

History has proven that humans should not play God. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. The whole point of diversity of species is to ensure survival of the species. Why not just give everyone white skin, blue eyes and blonde hair?
