afro textured hair came about around 2.5 million years ago in south africa. To cool off africans from the hot sun so the sweat would absorb into their scalp leaving them cool in the hot sun. Nowadays afro textured hair is not much needed for african american women in america or places where its not that hot. many african americans wish to out grow this afro textured hair i figured after three months of research altering dna could resolve this problem. Has anyone tried alternating dna on humans if they have what were the results?......

Gene therapy that directs a corrected gene to replace the defective copy a person inherited is an area of intense research in certain life threatening diseases that might be suitable to this method of treatment.

The difficulty is how to deliver the replacement DNA to the targeted organ and to ensure the delivery method does not cause problems. Another problem is in fixing a somatic condition in the organism does not stop the next generation from inheriting the dysfunctional trait.

World's first gene therapy for inherited blindness was clinically trialed in 2007- 2008.

New gene therapy approach repairs errors in messenger RNA derived from defective genes. Technique has potential to treat the blood disorder thalassaemia, cystic fibrosis, and some cancers.

Certainly no one has tried to alter the genetic makeup of humans for something so trivial as hair texture. There is a huge amount of research into genetically altering humans to cure genetic diseases. There are obviously a lot of problems: knowing what the defective gene in a disease is; figuring out how to get that gene into the correct cells in a body to fix the disease; getting the gene to be expressed properly and permanently.....There have been some successes with genetic modification of humans. A recent issue of Science magazine has an article on gene therapy successes: Science, volume 334, October 7, 2011, page 29-30.
