Question about mitochondrial Eve

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-08-13] [Hit: ]
and we may have a good idea where, but even if we were incredibly fortunate enough to unearth her fossil remains, wed never know it was her.Besides, Mito.Eve is only special because shes the MOST RECENT mitochondrial ancestor of all humans through their mothers side.......
Every living human beings can trace their lineage to mitochondrial eve who lived 200 k years ago as mitochondrial DNA is only passed down the female lines.
My question is if we can trace it back to this female individual who liked 200 K years ago then why cant we trace back to her ancestors up her female lines ie her mother, her grand mother and great grand mother?
Any reason why we can only trace back to mitochondrial Eve and not further back?

Mitochondrial Eve is really more of a concept than an actual woman we've pinned down in history. We know about when she lived, and we may have a good idea where, but even if we were incredibly fortunate enough to unearth her fossil remains, we'd never know it was her. Besides, Mito.Eve is only special because she's the MOST RECENT mitochondrial ancestor of all humans through their mother's side. Her mother, grandmother, and so on would ALSO be common mitochondrial maternal ancestors of all humans, but not the most recent one.

I hope that helps. Good luck!

Because this is the last woman who we can all claim to have as progenitor. She had plenty of sisters and cousins and their parents going way back.

If you accept the biblical interpretation that Eve and Adam were the first two human beings to exist...

You might also say, that they were both mutated apes who looked more human than ape-like... and that two mutated ape like humans married each other to create a new race...
