I was outside watering my tree and found about 10 of these insects just hanging out. Can you please tell me what they are? Thanks!

That is the nymph stage of the Giant Mesquite Bug (Thasus Neocalifornicus).
Their bright red color warns predators that they do not taste good. They also release a stinky chemical when threatened.
They feed off sap and leaves of the mesquite tree and often form big clusters.

It's the nymphal stage of a bug, and I think it's a box elder bug.
