Ok biology people please help me!
I have no idea what is their relationship.
I mean i know limbic system involves emotions and memories
but what has that got to do with cerebrum?!

please help thanks!

The limbic system lie buried under the cerebrum that lie on both sides of the thalamus.

Yes, it is involved with emotions and memories. However it is also to do with the autonomic nervous system and hypothalamus plays an important role in terms of homeostasis.

If you didn't know what homeostasis refers to, it's basically returning controlled variables like core body temperature back towards the normal range.

For example if your core temperature drops, your hypothalamus detects the change, but we'd need to do something to warm up our body again right? So the hypothalamus has to tell your muscles to start shivering and produce heat. Now it cannot do that straight away, it has to process that information, send it to the cerebrum, especially the part of the cerebrum that plans muscle movement, once the plan to shiver muscles is established, that information is sent to the prefrontal motor cortex. Once the prefrontal motor cortex sends that information off to your body, then you are able to shiver and bring the core temperature up again.

Again just summarizing things up a bit, even though it's to do with memories and emotions, we'd still need to use parts of the cerebrum to carry out functions related to say memories and emotions. When you are sad (limbic system), then you cry (triggered by cerebrum+cerebral cortex). The limbic system along cannot trigger the actual physical manifestation in another words. Thats why they are both Functionally related.

The fact that it's below the cerebrum and above the spinal cord, I think is because perhaps that the sensory information travels up the spinal cord and enters the brain but it has to be first processed at the limbic system(hypothalamus). i.e you get hurt then the sensory information first arrives at the limbic system which triggers an emotional response (wanting to cry), then it goes off to the cerebrum by which then you can cry because motor information is sent from the cerebrum/cerebral cortex area.
