BRETT say: In order for the sun to have a dark (unseen) side, it would have to rotate identically once each solar year so that earth always hovers in view over the same hemisphere. The molten sun actually has its polar regions rotating at slightly different rates than its equatorial region. The moon rotates once every "side real earth day", and so its back side never faces the earth.
