Or, they could lift us up into being a better species.
But more likely, they'll not even bother us.

Brilliant Answer say: Even though we only have one sample, we can use statistics to get a good picture of what ETs might be like.
You, for example are probably riht in the middle of the IQ scale of all humans. It's 50/50 that half of the people in theh world are smarter and the other half less smart than you. If you've ever seen a Bell Curve, or taken a test graded on a curve you see that only about 3% score at the very top, and another 3% at the very bottom.
At the same time you as a random individual are probably in a large group rather than a small group. So my guess is your in China, USA, India or Pakistan. one of the four largest populations, or closer to that than Costa Rico, Lithuania, or the Bahamas. Even though there are many more small countries,a random individual is going to fall into teh median population, not the median country. So, say there are 154 civilizations, Earth is among the largest in population and average in intelligence. There are many many plants that have only a few hundred thousand aliens, and may not then even have the economy to create a space program.

ᔕTEᐯᗩᑎ say: you cant get anymore intelligent than humanity. They might be more advanced but not more intelligent. A human baby growing up in their culture would be more than capable of understanding what they understand
-
Raghavendran say: Inter mate with them.
-
Satan Claws say: They will ignore us and move on to keep searching for intelligent life.
-
Zardoz say: They will decide the what's and if's.
-
Choose a bloody best answer. It's not hard. say: I expect we'll ridicule everything they say as fake news.
-
Davros say: They would have to be vastly more intelligent if we met them because we're certainly not going to be able to go and visit them!
And in that scenario what happens is entirely up to the aliens. We'd have no more say in what becomes of us than do a herd of sheep in a pen.
-
Hindusufi say: That would be good. The chances of it happening are slim to none.
-
KennyB say: We better not tell them where we live.
