Well, you can't really say "other planets", because there are so many planets in the universe.

A better wording to this question would be "what about Earth, besides the fact that it has life, makes it unique?".

One answer could be that it has an oxygen-rich atmosphere.

Plate tectonics, plenty of water, magnetic field, tides - lucky planet.

Earth has human life, while other planets do not have the elements necessary to sustain it. Water is a major contender in whether or not organisms can survive on a planet.

*Liquid* water ON the surface, not just below a layer of ice. And stable when on the surface.

Also, and perhaps more significant, free molecular oxygen in the atmosphere and not solely bound with other elements (such as carbon in carbon dioxide or hydrogen as with water). This is thought to be a signature of photosynthetic life. If we ever detect it in the atmosphere of an extra-solar planet it will be a red flag ("green flag"?) pointing to the probable presence of life. Oxygen is normally so volatile that it binds with other elements almost automatically, unless there is a process of renewal going on.

Actually, life is about the only thing.

Just the few planets we have gotten measurements from suggest that water and some oxygen in the atmosphere are not uncommon.

Is there something else you have in mind? Like Peanut Butter M&Ms or Honey Boo Boo?

Which other planets? In the galaxy? Universe? Just our own solar system? We have dolphins. none have been found anywhere else yet.
