mass can be simply thought as the 'make-up' of an object.

Whether on earth or moon the mass of the astronaut won't change. ##the 'make-up' of the austranaut won't change.

The only thing thing that changes is the astronauts weight. WEIGHT IS NOT EQUAL TO MASS

W = mg , where m is mass and g is gravitational pull by the earth or moon.

Gravitational pull by the earth is greater than that of the moon. Thus the astronaut will be gr4eater on earth compare to his weight on the moon.

BUT his mass will not change.

Mass is what things are made of. Mass bends space time so when two masses get close enough to each other they pull on each other with a certain force which according to Newton is F = G m1 m2 / r^2, that force is weight which we calculate by the acceleration due to gravity times by the mass, another of Newton's equations F = m a. Mass is what it is, weight is how much it's pulled by another mass.

What *does* change is his weight. Weight is the effect of gravity on his mass. On Earth, he weighs 6 times more than he would on the moon.

your mass is how much space you take up, so as they don't change size then they keep the same mass where ever they go, it's just their weight that changes due to the lower gravity.
