for us for exampleas far as history is concerned we have only been able to comunicate off planet forless than 100 years.. that means thatif the signal is a radio signal that left earth in1912it would just be reaching a star100 light years fromearth now...to have a transmission returned would mean the planet had to be within 50 light years just to give you an example the galaxy is 10000 light years or more across .......
I think YES.

How can we e the only life in the entire universe?

its actually quite possible there is alien life but and thats a biggg butt you have to realize they may not always come into existance at the same time.. for example there may have been an inteligent lifeform on a planet far away when the dinosaurs were around but maybe the planet was hit by a asteroid or other disaster and the civilization is gone now..

the probability that two equal or near equal societies in two completely different parts of the galaxy or even universe are around at the same exact time is very slim..

for us for example as far as history is concerned we have only been able to comunicate off planet for less than 100 years.. that means that if the signal is a radio signal that left earth in 1912 it would just be reaching a star 100 light years from earth now...

to have a transmission returned would mean the planet had to be within 50 light years

just to give you an example the galaxy is 10000 light years or more across ... the chances of contacting a alien society are SLIM at best...

but to answer the quest possible but we may never know...

Maybe one in ten thousand planets has any life on it.

Most of these planets only have the local equivalent of bacteria.

Maybe one in a thousand of those has larger animals and plants

Maybe one in a million of those has developed intelligent life.

Maybe one in fifty of those intelligent races is more advanced than we are.

We may be the most advanced race in the galaxy, or even the local group of galaxies.

So no aliens are visiting. If any visiting gets done, it will probably be us doing it.

I think NO

There is no reason why we can't be the only life in the entire universe. Can you think of one reason. Just one will do?
