As any rational adult would ask - Where's the evidence.
WHY do you "truly believe there's intelligent life out there". Please share the secret evidence that has convinced you so that we may believe also.
To your credit, at least you don't have "civilisation fever" and make a fool of yourself by insisting that the galaxy has "countless civilisations".
So let's do a little thought experiment. Suppose that there is a civilisation in a distant galaxy perhaps as close as a thousand million light years away. Since we will never detect this civilisation within the expected lifespan of humanity, then how can anyone possibly say it exists? If we never detect something, then as far as we are concerned it does not exist.
Decades ago, with no data to go on, it was a fair bet that aliens might exist. What has happened since is that we have searched far and hard for life in space and have found none. SETI, Kepler and other projects have done the most intensive search of any kind in all of history and have not found a trace of life in space. The more we look and find nothing, the more confident we become that our status in the universe can be summed up in three little words:
We are alone.
This is truly one of the most profound, exciting, and far reaching discoveries of all time.
