It's caused by the Earth's tilt (the angle between its axis of rotation and its orbital plane).

None of the answers really fit, although I guess you could make more of a case for b than the others.

The person who said it is the difference in distance between perihelion and aphelion is completely and utterly wrong.

Difference in seasons are caused by due to the continuos rotation of earth around the sun and its own axis. When earth is near sun(Perihillion) it causes summer and when earth is farther from sun(Amphillion) it causes winter. Hence, rotation of earth is responsible for the change in season.
