I know that the brown rat is the most common rat ever. But is there actually any rats that originated in the UK?

Rats will live anywhere that they can find a secure food supply and adequate protection from predators. They have lived in towns/cities ever since man made then, migrating there from the farms with the food wagons and then staying since it was well suited to them. They do live in forests and other habitats.
Almost all true rats (genus Rattus) originate in Asia, Black rats migrated to Europe during the first century while the brown rat is a later arrival (17th - 18th century)
