The rotation of the earth generates two types of forces. One is the force working from out side towards the inside "force field" that attract all objects towards itself. And the other is the force working from the inside towards the outside "electromagnetic wave". Wave that carries information about earth such as its temperature, its constituents and so on.
So if you are watching the earth from outside, you will notice that, as the earth looses its rotation, it will first loose it balance or stable axis and starts to wobble, like a spinning top loosing its spin. The wobble will come with vibrations that will trigger catastrophic destruction of unimaginable scale.
When it finally stops, it will loose most if not all of its force field. Its gravitational force might be too weak to attract the usual object into itself. That will cause it to loosing its properties as a system, the moon is the first to drift away. As it looses its own ability to attract, its inertia will be greater then its attractions with the sun, reducing its orbital curve around the sun and might even loose it position in the solar system.
Stopping the earth's rotation is a deadliest and disastrous way of stopping the earth from being a system or from being in the solar system.
But any way the earth will still continue to drift, probably into the outer space, like a helpless giant asteroid. Or it might appear like a comet with a tail or cloud of dust and gas that trails behind it for thousands of miles as it leaves our solar system. It would be the most spectacular phenomena the universe have even witness.
That might be one painful but beautiful way of redistributing life into space. Or it might find another suitable star where it could start to rotating and live again.

the earth cannot stop rotating.....if it did everything would fly off into space.
