Is it possible to rule the universe

I know this is a dumb question but what if, there are more advanced creatures out there and they are in different galaxies and they roam in big spacecraft destroying planets and taking them over, all under 1 ruler? Like in dragon ball z Frieza was trying to take over the universe

Not such a dumb question. (Just look at the others on this site).

Firstly, if indeed we are the only civilisation in the universe, then by definition we are it's ruling one.

OTOH, if all our observations and advanced thinking is wrong, and there IS another inhabited planet, there is still no guarantee that interstellar travel is possible. Even if it is possible, it is almost certain that developments in other technology such as simulated reality, bioengineering and nanotechnology will render space travel obsolete before it is even developed.

Why rule just this universe when you can make your own universes and rule those, all from the comfort of your own planet.

No. This is so because the no expansionist people of planet 43521 are invincible so you can rule everything but that planet and they have no intention of ruling the universe themselves.

Can't rule the USA. Forget about the entire planet with one race and multiple cultures. Rule a universe with multiple mutually hostile alien societies? Megalomaniacs arise!

Even if a race of beings were millions, billions or even trillions of times as advanced as us they wouldn't be able to do it.
