stay with another person at all times, dont bleed or pee in the water (yes they are attracted to that)and if on the off-chance that a shark does attack you, punch or poke it in the eyes.It will probably let you go after the first strike anyway, sharks do not like human meat.-1.......

Fight it.It may sound crazy but you're gonna die if you just lay there.Just because its the Top Predator of the sea does not mean you don't have a chance of killing it what ever your holding attack it with everything you got(camera, fist, paddle, toy shovel,etc..) You may have heard that punching the nose is how you should hit it but its not necessary try punching the eyes, gills that's where it's most effective if you keep on attacking it mabye it'll go away and think your too much trouble you might even kill it if you really want to.

The chances of being attacked by a shark at the beach are very slim. More people die (and go to the hospital) a year for bee stings than getting attacked by sharks. To avoid shark attack (which I suggest doing over expecting to really getting attacked) Don't go in deep water, stay with another person at all times, don't bleed or pee in the water (yes they are attracted to that) and if on the off-chance that a shark does attack you, punch or poke it in the eyes. It will probably let you go after the first strike anyway, sharks do not like human meat.

1. Pay attention to warnings from the lifeguard or the equivalent. If there is a shark warning, don't go in until it has been declared safe.
2. Don't swim on a beach that has seals as they are the main prey and there may be sharks hunting them nearby.
3. If you are attacked, punch the shark in the eye as hard as you can. Note that sharks have no limbs, they use their mouth to investigate items in lieu of hands. A fast reaction from you, will tell him immediately you are not yummy and he will be more likely to release you. The vast majority of sharks don't like humans for dinner, and once they realise you aren't a seal they will let go.
4. Once the shark lets you go, get out of the water as fast as you can. Blood will attract them.
5. If you are going to the beach in a non shark area / shark area but the type of sharks are non violent, don't stress yourself out. Just have fun, and remember that Jaws is just a film. The last man to my knowledge that was in the media for a shark attack deserved it. he knowingly went into declared unsafe water and got his leg chewed up. The sea is their natural environment, not ours. We have to live by their rules.

Seems to me you will need a harpoon. Because those sharks like to jump on the sand and chomp up helpless victims.
