The asteriod 1999 rq36

after this one passes without event, well have the same rumors from scientifically illiterate sources on the next one.-Id trust the data supplied by NASA over a lot of internet web sites put up by non-scientists with too much free time on their hands.-HMMMI think NASA has better data than I,......
A lot of internet web sites say this will hit earth however looking on the current impact risks from NASA it has been removed and seen as no longer a risk could you tell me if it will hit or not

-
There is a zero probability of this thing hitting the earth in the near term. There is, however, a non-zero probability of something of significant size hitting the earth some day. The problem is that this is exactly the sort of issue which, scientists have determined, the human brain is remarkably bad at processing. We haven't a clue what it really means that a small asteroid may hit the earth within a million years. There is now a whole branch of science and or or social science being devoted to processing this sort of problem.

I think we just went through all of this crap with 2005 YU55 (passed by last night - no impact). It's somewhat disheartening to see people leaping to dignify doomtards on the internet after that. But, you know, after this one passes without event, we'll have the same rumors from scientifically illiterate sources on the next one.

I'd trust the data supplied by NASA over "a lot of internet web sites" put up by non-scientists with too much free time on their hands.

HMMM I think NASA has better data than I, so I would go with their assesment
