I'm learning 8th grade science. No other molecules can travel through a vaccum, but solar radiation can.
How does solar radiation travel through a vaccum?

Electromagnetic radiation (light) is a magnetic field at right angles to an electric field that propagates through a vacuum at a right angle to the electric and magnetic fields. Em radiation is not like sound waves, which travel by pressing molecules of air together and apart. Sound needs a medium to travel through and transmit it (molecules) Light doesn't need molecules to transmit it..
These web sites will probably make a lot more sense than I do:

Edit:ROFL!!! at the thumb down. Thanks for the confirmation that I'm correct. Are you going to add this answer to the violation list as the 22nd violation? ROFLOL!!!! Oops! TOO LATE, AGAIN. It's after midnight. LOL!!! It's finally cooled down, a little bit. I'm going out to get beer.

I was preparing an in depth A to your Q, but when I was ready to post it, you’d already picked ‘Best Answer’, only 3 hrs after posing the Q. Anyhoo, since you may still find it useful, here’s my A:

Light is an electromagnetic wave and travels through a vacuum and the atmosphere easily. Visible light is only the part of the solar radiation your eye "sees". You don't see the infra rad (but it feels warm, right) and you don't see the ultra-violet (but you get a sun-burn). Solar radiation extends above the ultra-violet into the gamma rays and below infra-red into the radio wavelengths.
Go find a wall-chart of the electromagnetic spectrum -- it is very interesting.

Because light moves, and there is no friction or gravity to stop it. Science class over.
